Dating Trends: Older women seeking younger men

Traditionally, you see couples that consist of a younger woman and an older man. With the changing times, dating trends apparently include that of older women seeking out younger men for dating relationships. Former power couple actress Demi Moore and actor Ashton Kutcher are an example of this dating formula. While their marriage did not work out, it did for a while. Generational differences used to be seen as a challenge in a romantic relationship. Now it seems to be attractive for certain women. Why are these women seeking out younger men? Research indicates a few reasons including increased flexibility the relationship, breaking away from societal norms, and just plain wanting to be happy with whomever they like.

Psychologist Dr. Seema Hingorrany shares thoughts on why older women are turning to older men for dating relationships and increased intimacy:

“While I have come across examples of older women dating younger men, it’s mostly kept under wraps. And it’s usually women who are looking for fun and want to experiment in their sexual relationships. They prefer younger men because they are more open than and not as rigid as older men. Also, in some cases the woman is in a better place financially and that gives her an upper hand in this relationship.”

Successful dating relationships rely on a variety of factors, including being able to share your lives on a daily basis, connecting physically and emotionally, and building a life together.
