Dating Trends: Double dates may strengthen your relationship

Double dates are a great way to spend time with your partner and friends, all at the same time. But did you know that your next double date could make your dating relationship or marriage just a bit stronger? One study published by the University of Maryland states it found that couples they interviewed for their research described feeling happy when they saw their partner interact with others in a positive way. While you may be happy with your partner at home, it appears seeing them in a different environment, in a positive light, also helps you appreciate them even more – hence making your connection with them a bit stronger.

In a Times of India article, Geoffrey Greif, researcher is quoted:

“Couples are looking for different things in their couple friendships – we found there are ‘fun-sharing’ and ‘emotion-sharing’ couples,”

“With a great couple friendship, you get to see your partner at her/his best.

“He or she is having fun, interacting in a loving and supportive way with another couple as well as with the partner,”

Having a couple you both consider your friends can help you have an outlet for sharing your love with someone else. Friendships can act as a positive liaison you have outside of your bond as a couple. Double dating can also be a great way to learn important and healthy ways to improve on your already existing skill set of dating or marriage relationship skills! Think about your friends. Do you enjoy going on double dates with them? Do you need to get out more with your friends? Source: Times of India
