My name is Belky Perez Schwartz.
An experienced therapist in Miami, I am credentialed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors.
My most recent credential is that of a Distance Counselor for providing online counseling and coaching services, obtained in 2010.
As a therapist in Miami, I specialize in working with clients who identify as gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, questioning (GLBTQ), and everything in between! I welcome individuals, couples, and families for personalized therapy sessions.
Through my work, I help couples, heterosexual, same-sex, and those of mix orientation, learn how to improve their communication skills, effectively resolve conflicts, and manage stress related to daily life events and sexuality concerns. Common themes I have discussed as a relationships therapist in Miami include coming out, polyamory, open marriages, transitioning as a transgender individual, and becoming part of the GLBTQ community.
Sessions are confidential in nature and any information shared, with three exceptions, are kept in strict confidence. Exceptions to confidentiality include information related to self-harm, harming a child, or harming an adult incapable of defending themselves.
I have been practicing as a therapist in Miami, Florida since 2004. My approach to counseling and therapy is one that involves my client every step of the way. My services are open to individuals, couples, and families, via both face-to-face and distance or online counseling sessions (i.e. FaceTime, email therapy, Skype chat, etc.), in English and Spanish.
In addition to my private practice, I am an online instructor at two national universities. With those universities, I teach online psychology and student life skills courses such as strategies for success, career skills, and critical thinking skills, which I enjoy it a great deal.
Experience at these institutions is very valuable. Time spent working with students, teaching them the foundations of psychology and the skills they will need to succeed as both students and professionals is truly priceless.
